My money’s on them whacking Haneef with some sort of agreement to not talk to anyone about the case, then getting him out of the country in the next 48 hours.
SMH, this evening:
Mohamed Haneef will fly home to India tonight but will continue to fight to have his Australian work visa reinstated, his lawyers say.

Mr Andrews tonight said Dr Haneef would be allowed to leave Australia but the Government would not reinstate his work visa.

Immigration authorities made it a condition of facilitating his return to India that he did not participate in any media photo or interview opportunities, his lawyers said.
No great feat of prediction. Assume that Liberals will act like conscience-free scum and take whatever action they can to make a problem go away.
Disgraceful. Note that they're still refusing to admit that they might have actually made a mistake at all. Or letting him get his visa back - which will make it hard for him in future to get a visa to visit any other country. And isn't it amazing how Ratty managed to be out of the country for this?
Today's question: which ambassadorship will Andrews be offered to get him out of the way?
