"As I see it in this campaign, we just finished the first half and the Lamont team is ahead. But in the second half our team, Team Connecticut, is going to surge forward to victory in November," Lieberman said. Then he shouted, "Will you join me?"

At 11 a.m. today, the statewide Democratic ticket is to gather with Lamont at party headquarters in Hartford in a show of unity and effectively answer, "No."

This is pretty big news. In the US, George Bush's favourite Democrat just got tossed out on his ear by his own voters in the primary (where the voters get to decide who the candidate will be). In the US, the almost _never_ _ever_ happens. Of course, being a Bush-loving neocon, Lieberman is refusing to admit defeat, and will be running as an independent - supposedly to somehow provide a "unifying" force. Right. OK. Whatever you say, loser.

Very unlikely to make it out tonight - it's now 8pm, and I still feel like utter death. I've been trying to figure out which of the following is more annoying: headache, fever, runny nose, coughing. I think the runny nose wins for sheer irritation value.

Got hardly any sleep last night - went to bed about 10.30pm until about 10am, but in that time I doubt I was asleep for more than a hour and a half at a time before waking up. It would then take me 10 minutes or more to get back to sleep. The lovely Miss S. came over to keep me company and provide many many cuddles - unfortunately because I was so sleepless, she had a very very bad night's sleep, too.
