Tuesday, ring around trying to provision DSL2. Couple of folks at work reckon TPG is good. Ring them and order it.
Thursday, move into new place, ring TPG for status. Told that they have cancelled the order off their own bat, and that I am unable to get DSL2 through TPG, and that the order and the username is no longer even in their system. Ooooo-kay. Ring iinet. Person there says "hm, telstra DB hasn't been updated yet, will check again in the morning and ring you back". They ring back. Very helpful, gets it all going. Yay. Get back to desk to find email from TPG saying the order is progressing". Um. What. The. Fuck? Ring them. TPG's helpdesk is apparently outsourced to people who are unable to comprehend basic english sentence structure. Explain (politely, the first time) what has happened - they told me that the service wasn't going ahead, that it was cancelled, that I couldn't use them, and so I had chosen a new provider. Told "ok, is cancelled, please send an email to confirm". Send email. 2 hours later, receive further updates about the status of my order from TPG. Swear. Ring up. No it's not cancelled, oh and by the way we billed your credit card. Play the "get bounced from CS person to CS person" game. Each in turn wants me to identify myself, my account name, address &c. All require spelling out pretty much every word. Each in turn tries to tell me how great it is that my order is progressing. Eventually manage to convey, through gritted teeth "I. Do. Not. Wish. To. Proceed. Because. You. Told. Me. That. It. Was. Not. Possible". Multiple placing on hold occurs. Eventually promised that really, it has been cancelled and the c/card charge will be refunded. Right. Sure.
Why do I see a phonecall to the TIO in my future? Why do I see TPG's assclownery fucking up the iinet install? *sob*
