Hope everyone had a christmas full of santa loot and without too much family tension. Mine was one of the least stressful ever, which makes me happy. Still haven't decided on NYE plans - there's a couple of options for Miss S. and I to decide on.
The new year looks like being fun. I'm heading up to Sydney from 15-20 January for linux.conf.au. The organisers invited me to come up and give a talk at the speaker's dinner on some tips for good talks. Really quite flattered to be asked. They've requested that I "be the nutball we all know and love", so I have a fairly wide latitude to work with.
Just got off the phone with the director of the next play at STAG - we're doing The Laramie Project (also here). This looks like being quite a heavy play, but should be excellent. It's nice to see STAG branching out a little from the usual Oscar Wilde/Noel Coward/Alan Ayckbourn(sp?)/Williamson standards that they tend to focus on, and instead doing stuff that's a little more exciting. Sounds like I'm going to be a busy little beaver there, too - the director has some ideas that will be quite interesting to pull off technically.
And finally - my descent into mad-cat-ladyhood continues. I'm catsitting
mordwen's little fluffball Jezebel for a few weeks, so I now have a 4 cat household. After a few days of grumbling, staring and occasional hissing they're gradually settling in. Max (the youngest) and Jez were happily sharing a food bowl earlier today and are happy to both chase the same laser pointer -- and there's much less of the sitting and staring at each other all round.
