Sony's Playstation 3 is going to cost money. A lot of money. Sony's response?

[Sony's goal is] "for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."

Boggle. Why am I reminded of the French restaurant L'Idiot in the film L.A. Story (with Patrick Stewart enacting the New Cruelty Regime)? "You can't have the PS3. Not with two controllers, not with your financials!"

Yes, but a lot fewer than before. If Sony don't lose a hefty chunk of market share this generation I'll be mightily surprised.
