Seriously rocking news that Obama got the nomination - his acceptance speech the other night was brilliant, again.

In other news, we went and saw Curtains last night, the final collaboration from the writing team behind Chicago and Cabaret. David Hyde Pierce and Debra Monk were the leads, and were brilliant. It's a 1950s murder mystery set backstage at a musical. I enjoyed it hugely - they clearly recognised that the emphasis should be on silliness, and played it up at every opportunity. Hyde Pierce was especially awesome as a homicide detective and aspiring actor - he deserved the Tony award he got for the role.

"Could I ask, only because I've wondered this my entire life, which would normally come first, the music or the lyric?"
"Same answer as the chicken or the egg."
"Ah - so it's the lyric."

Very silly show.

Tonight it's Avenue Q, wheee!

I've also seen Wicked - wow, huge production and very very good - and Legally Blonde (don't you judge me, it wasn't my idea), which was better than I expected it to be.

Finally, brilliant train wreck television:
