Watching Lateline. Tony Abbott looks dodgier and dodgier every time I see him. If someone with his bad comb-forward tried to talk to me at a bar, I'd back away quickly before he tried to touch me in a bad way. Screengrab later.
The discussion is more or less "so really, is someone gonna knife him? Really? No? Why not?" while Abbott tries to cling to his "we suck, but the PM sucks slightly less than the rest of us".
The latest talking point is that the PM's personal popularity still hasn't dropped below 50%, so that it's fine.
Ooo. In late-breaking news, according to Abbott, the people
do have a right to kick a government, even if he doesn't understand why his team is hated. That's a big change from his previous "you worthless peasants never had it so good" stand.
Abbott seems to find a lot of things hard to believe. For instance, the reporting that all the pro-workchoices ads made people hate the liberals more - nope. Or the leaked Crosby/Textor polling (brilliantly dissected
by Possum here) - nope, hasn't seen it, doesn't believe it.
In other news, no-one expects nazis to be smart, but if you really decided that your tiny penis was the fault of jewish people, why would you decide to ratchet up the hate in a
land full of heavily armed jewish people? I mean, for fuck's sake. The AP didn't headline this "Nazis Really Are Morons", which would have been how I titled it.
