talking about talks
Jan. 16th, 2007 09:58 amSo I presented my talk "Style over Substance" at the LCA Speaker's Dinner. Discoveries:
- Taking a pinata full of lollies through airport security causes raised eyebrows.
- When you're talking on a boat, the roof is very low. Throwing the lollies from the pinata out into the audience of a 100 or so is challenging.
- Talking about speaking/presenting is still a heck of a lot of fun. But it's hard work keeping the energy level up.
The talk seemed to go really well, I got a heck of a lot of good feedback, including my favourite (from several people) "Oh. I have to go rewrite my talk now". Lots of people were interested afterwards and discussing talk structure, how you present information in a way that the audience pays attention and the like.
