godwin's law violation
Jul. 25th, 2006 03:20 pmThe Guardian has a long piece on the health risks from soya. It's very good reading, although it fails to mention the "but soy milk taste nasty" argument.
I want to point out this paragraph, as it confirms my prejudice against soya:
Damn those nazi fucks.
Personally, I'm somewhat lactose intolerant, but I've found that the supermarket has a type of lactose free cow-milk that seems to be fine for me. And unlike soy milk, it doesn't taste like arse.
I want to point out this paragraph, as it confirms my prejudice against soya:
It was not until the 1940s that industry worked out how to deactivate the enzyme inhibitor in the protein meal sufficiently for animals to tolerate it, and it was only technology taken from the Nazis at the end of the second world war that solved the problem of the oil's horrible smell and flavour.
Damn those nazi fucks.

You know, when the Fearmonger-in-Chief says you're over the top, you're really, really over the top. from the age today.
Prime Minister John Howard has described a move to ban cameras from a popular Melbourne tourist precinct amid terrorism fears as "over the top".
Southgate management has erected "no camera" signs around the Yarra River retail and dining centre after security guards tried to force tourists to delete photos taken of "obscure" parts of buildings.
The police were called when they refused.
...
Southgate management said exceptions would only be made for photographs of things such as the Ophelia sculpture on the Yarra promenade.
"We've had a couple of incidents of tourists taking photos of obscure things and they were approached by security and asked to stop taking photos," a newspaper quoted Southgate property manager Kathy Barrance as saying.
"It was just the facades of buildings, things that would be of no interest to put in a photo album."

The more Costello tries to act all Howard-lite, the more he reveals just how bad he is at, well, everything. His latest:
PETER Costello has warned Australians to breed more or run the risk of a population transformed by immigration.
GodDAMNit. We wouldn't want to have a Population Transformed By Immigration in Australia, would we? I mean, Australia's never been a country of immigrants.

I'm not sure which is more offensive - his relentless calls of "bitches, get breeding!" or the poorly concealed racist fearmongering he's attempting to use to encourage this social engineering.
The notion that the land of Australia really can't support the sort of population that he seems to think necessary never seems to occur to him. For a dull dull little econocrat like Costello, growth is all.
For all Howard's faults (and fuck, he has a lot) at least he's not got the tin ear of Costello. On the plus side, I can't imagine Costello ever being PM. And that's a good thing.
