the conference itself
Dec. 15th, 2004 06:05 amSo the conference itself has started now, which means actually doing geek stuff, rather than (as we did all weekend) wandering around Barcelona looking at pretty things and eating food.
One vaguely unpleasant discovery I made 2/3rds up the staircase of La Sagrada Familia was that I'm still somewhat afraid of heights. The stairs in question are apparently endless and a very narrow spiral. Unfortunately they're so narrow that turning around is not possible, you need to keep going in a direction we'll call "even fucking higher" til you get to a passage to the down-stairs.
Aside from that, much looking at the pretty - Barcelona's blessed with a number of magnificent Gaudi works (including the already-mentioned cathedral). There's a bunch of photos on the phone I'll attempt to upload later.
The Ubuntu conference is running at full speed now - with their staff scattered around the world, this is their chance to sit in a room and argue things out. I've been flitting around contributing in various random places - there's a couple of sessions I'm running over the next two days.
